Course Description: This course explores human behavior from a social science point of view. Students will attempt to explain the way people act the way they do through readings and class discussion. Topics include consciousness, intelligence and memory, behavior modification, personal and moral development, theories of personality, psychological disorders, and social interaction. In particular, this course will focus on self-exploratoin , and students are challenged to understand their own personality traits as well as those of others. They will also discover some strategies for coping with stress and change in modern society. Most assigned work can be completed during class time, so there is little to no homework.

Course Description: This course is a full year college-level survey course that will provide students with skills and knowledge to better understand the nature of human behavior.They will gain a better understanding of the systematic and scientific study of behavior and mental processes of not only humans, but also other animals. Some topics covered over the year include:

Later in the year, students have the opportunity to take the optional College Board-administered Advanced Placement examination. Depending on their scores, students may gain college credit, and not have to take some college course requirements later. Students can expect a minimum of 30 minutes of homework per night.
