Overview

Motto

Learning to Live in a Technical World

Creed

I believe that Technology Education holds an important place in my life in the technical world.

I believe there is a need for the development of good attitudes concerning work, tools, materials, experimentation, and processes of industry.

Guided by my teachers, artisans from industry, and my own initiative, I will strive to do my best in making my school, community, state, and nation better places in which to live.

I will accept the responsibilities that are mine. I will accept the theories that are supported by proper evidence.

I will explore on my own for safer, more effective methods of working and living.

I will strive to develop a cooperative attitude and will exercise tact and respect for other individuals. Through the work of my hands and mind, I will express my ideas to the best of my ability.

I will make it my goal to do better each day the task before me, and to be steadfast in my belief in my God, and my fellow Americans.

Chapter and History

About TSA

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national organization of students that are involved in STEM, or science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students who have completed or are enrolled in technology education courses have the opportunity to join the club, and currently, TSA's membership has more than 250,000 middle and high school students across the United States. TSA has a wide range of activities to choose from depending on the member's interest, making it an extremely open and positive experience for everyone. Members learn not only from the competitive events, but also through TSA's leadership opportunities, and much more.

Members of TSA have the chance to compete at exciting state conferences, and later, at the annual National TSA Conference. The judging is done by technology and engineering educators and industry representatives, inspiring the best from participants. Students are awarded with not only medals and trophies, but also the fond memories of friendship and teamwork as well as the exhilarating challenge of participating in a National TSA Conference.

The competitions that JHS has participated in include 3D Animation, Digital Video Production, Dragster Design, Engineering Design, Architectural Design, Software Development, Biotechnology Design, Essays on Technology, Extemporaneous Speech, Technology Bowl, Coding, VEX Robotics, Music Production, Video Game Design, Webmaster, On Demand Video, and Debating Technological Issues.

Activities

Yearlong Projects

TSA students have been working on their projects to prepare for the annual State TSA Competition. There are a variety of competition events the members have been focusing on, including engineering design, coding, digital video production, extemporaneous speech, VEX Robotics, and On-Demand Video.

Technology Tutoring

During Thursday meetings after school, TSA students help tutor AP Computer Science students at Juanita who need a little extra help.

Winter Ornaments

This winter, the TSA club was asked to help make ornaments to sell and raise money, and the club members glady took up the offer. Members created their own ornament design on the computer application Rhinocerous 3D before printing it out on the laser printer. We ended up with a lot of creative designs, from christmas trees to snowflakes!
